On Friday 23rd February some of our Year 10 PE GCSE students spent the day at Edgbaston Cricket Club at the Careers in Sport Live event.

The students spent time in workshops showcasing careers in sports business, coaching, media and science.

Sports Business

The students gained an overview of the commercial department of the professional sports club and heard about club strategies for fan engagement, product launches, ticketing, marketing and the procedures involved for matchday.

Sports Coaching

In the sports coaching workshop students gained an overview of the coaching department of the professional sports club, from grassroots through to the first team, and participated in a range of activities designed to develop their own coaching philosophy.

Sports Science

 This workshop offered students an overview of the sports science department and how psychology, physiology, performance analysis and biomechanics help the athletes to compete at the highest level.

Sports Media

Professional clubs and athletes invest time and resources in social media to promote their brand. Students heard how the club use social media platforms to support their commercial growth.

Our students did us proud and fully immersed themselves into the day and shared their ideas. It was a positive and insightful day and an event we will be returning to next year.
